Ammonia - hydrogen nitride (NH3), is mainly used for the production of nitrogen fertilizers (nitrate and ammonium sulfate, urea), explosives and polymers, nitric acid (contact method), soda (by ammonia method) and other chemical products. Liquid ammonia is used as a solvent.
Delivery terms
Packaging, transportation and storage conditions
- It is transported in special ammonia railway and automobile tanks, in steel cylinders, in tankers.
- Transported by all types of transport (except air) in accordance with the rules for the transportation of dangerous goods in force for this type of transport
- Ammonia is also transported through pipelines.
- Stored in above-ground storage tanks in warehouses in accordance with the safety regulations for above-ground storage of liquid ammonia approved by the national technical inspection authority.
- Cylinders filled with ammonia are stored in special warehouses or in open areas under a canopy that protects the cylinders from precipitation and direct sunlight.
- Storage with substances capable of forming explosive mixtures is not permitted.
